PURPOSE
Deep inside, you already know.
You heard the call.
The call might have been a simple lingering question…
… a subtle intuition leading you to read these words today,
or the gut-wrenching need to bring meaning to your life.
Maybe you can already recognize your purpose-hints: do you remember these moments in your life when your inner-aliveness was suddenly awaking and bursting through your mind, your words, your playing?
Maybe deep inside you are feeling this unused power?
These whispers that you are perceiving, are softly telling you that you are called to something greater than what you’ve settled for… that this dream of yours, this spark in your eyes, this inexpressible love is possible.
“You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.”
— Mary Oliver
The summer retreat is the heart of Mindful Music Making’s offerings.
During this 8-days journey, you will join like-minded musicians who are longing to deepen their connection with themselves, with music… and especially this year: with their contribution to the world.
The retreat atmosphere will allow you to explore these core questions:
What is this precious gift that you are bringing to the world simply by being fully yourself?
How are you embodying your uniqueness in the world?
This is not only about finding if music is your « path », but it is also about supporting you in the process of asking yourself these two questions:
What is making your playing unique?
What is your natural place in the musical world?
During the last 3 days, we will bring these questions directly to the music field. Through one-on-one and group sessions, you will receive the guidance of Gilles Apap, allowing you to deepen your exploration of your unique musical voice.
PS: Even though we wish for you to have the chance to take a deep dive into the full 8-day experience, it is also possible to apply for only one of the two events (see detail below).
“I believe, for us musicians, who need to develop a creative and free mind under the enormous pressure of the daily life itself, this retreat is the greatest gift that we can give to ourselves.”
Müge, Violinist
What to expect?
In this retreat, we dive deep into the exploration of our minds, hearts, and bodies as human beings and as musicians. In our magical space at Breitenteicher Mühle, we will experience and celebrate silence, connection, meditation, play, nature, amazing food, and of course: music!
What tools we are working with?
We are drawing on our experiences with practices from different paths and traditions such as meditation, NARM, Alexander-Technique, Gestalt therapy, Purpose-Guiding, Vision Quest, and Nature-based practices. While these are all “just” tools, portals, and doorways to create a space for you to drop into your own wisdom, your own wholeness, and your own Unique Essence.
